Crime Specialist I Clyde Fraizer, Jr.
Clyde Frazier's legacy was set long before his life ended on 9/11. Back in the early '90s, this former Amateur Athletic Union basketball coach saw how hard it was for inner city girls to be scouted for college basketball. But Clyde Frazier had a vision. And for ten years, he drove every Saturday and Sunday to Harlem to open up the Community Center gym at 9 a.m.
His tireless work produced one of the nation's premier girls basketball leagues. Called SlamJam, its purpose is to "promote basketball to as many girls as possible, as a tool for sound morals, a good mind, a good life, to promote education, and the possibility of scholarships."
Clyde Frazier was last seen on the 86th floor of Tower Two at the World Trade Center where he worked. His many admirers include over 270 girls who achieved their dreams of playing Division I college basketball, thanks to his vision and work.
